With the release of Snagit 2025 and Camtasia 2025 Techsmith moved to a subscription license model on February 12th, 2025. At that time, all active maintenance agreements were converted to a Business License subscription with maintenance based pricing.
If you are a legacy customer, it is possible that the price you received for a seat extension is higher than the subscription price you see online. The reason for that is that after you purchase the seat extension, your yearly renewal moving forward will be continue to be based on maintenance pricing, which is significantly lower than our new annual subscription price. Essentially, it means that you will have a higher cost in year one of the new license but will benefit from the much lower renewal cost after that.
TechSmith is committed to offering discounted pricing for customers on active agreements, who purchase prior to our transition to subscription, until 2030. You will see annual price increases but overall your renewal cost will be lower than the annual subscription price.
